There are many good reasons to exercise, but probably the most important is to reduce stress. Moving your body gets blood and adrenaline flowing; helps your liver, kidneys, intestines and glands to do their jobs; and aids mental health. The hormones released during exercise will help you stay awake during the day and sleep better at night. Whether it is walking, stretching, gardening, aerobics or Qi Gong, exercise  keeps your lungs and heart healthier.  As an added benefit, exercise increases your metabolism, thereby burning more calories and stabilizing your body at a normal weight.  Years ago a study exploring longevity cited only one common denominator among people who lived to a ripe old age: walking on a daily basis.

20 Minutes a Day

I recommend 20 minutes of exercise a day. That’s what I call do-able.It can be any type of exercise you particularly enjoy, even light stretching. The important thing is to fit regular exercise into your busy lifestyle. We can work together to create a program that’s personalized for your unique body, preferences and schedule.

Starting in 2009, you’ll be able to purchase a Conscious Exercise DVD that will help busy people to get strong and stay fit in their own living rooms.

QiGong

QiGong harnesses the universal life force to build up internal reserves, open the meridian system and enhance vitality. An ancient Indian healing art, it was brought to China around the seventh century BCE. Regular practice of the breath, meditation and movement exercises promotes harmony, balance and longevity.

QiGong has been likened to dancing. The movements free up energy and create the sense of being centered within a very short time. The easy-to-do movements can be practiced at home. It is considered the pre-eminent technique for longevity in China, where it is performed daily by millions.

I was certified as a Master Teacher in 2005 during training in Hong Kong. This wonderful practice, which I’ve incorporated into my daily routine, keeps me grounded to the earth and connected with the universe. When I practice QiGong, i.e. going through the subtle movements, I feel I'm in a state of meditation. This helps me relax and defer from the hectic everyday ups and downs of life. A wonderful state of being I hope to teach you!
