Children are wonderful. Their bodies are much more adept at incorporating chiropractic and cranial adjustments and rebalancing with ease.
The office is filled with stuffed toys and special books to allow children to feel comfortable and safe, and every effort is made to allow your child to relax during the process. Each step is explained in advance to both parent and child.
A parent must be present during examination and treatment.

History Taking
Dr. Swanson is an important member of my daughter’s team of practitioners, who are all working toward the long-term goal of overall healing.
The gentle adjustments she performs to correct my daughter’s alignment provide immediate relief to her discomfort. The cranial adjustments, I believe are a critical element.
We have seen increased excretion of toxins and metals following a treatment that included a cranial re-alignment.

Please bring along any test results so they can be included in the evaluation. The history of any injuries, falls or accidents will ensure that I have good insight into the child’s past challenges and current needs. Any current regimen of care by other doctors is crucial information to share.
Spinal Examination
Orthopedic measurements check for any joint or bone restrictions. Neurological evaluation reveals any variations or constrictions of the nervous system.
Range of motion studies evaluate all areas of the spine and extremities.
Scoliosis Screening
Postural analysis can determine if your child is able to stand with ease. Scoliosis screening shows whether or not bone growth is normal or if there are extreme curvatures that may require medical referrals.
Style of Care
Treatment is gentle, and I take time to explain each method I’ll be using to adjust and rebalance the spine. My technique is primarily SacroOccipital with cranial adjustments.
I have documented improvements in balance, focus and sensory processing skills of several children referred to Dr. Swanson through the Learning Gym. I personally have experienced improved visual skills after a treatment that included cranial adjustments.

Special Needs Children
Children see life through play, so when I work with a child, the child experiences it as playing a game. I began by working with the children of some of my adult patients, and gradually expanded to focus on special needs children.
Some of the results have been extremely gratifying. Just one example: Five years ago a friend referred an autistic child to me. He loved to play baseball, but his left side dragged when he tried to run, and it was hampering him. I began to do cranial and other adjustments for him, as well as Qi Gong healing. Last year he was the proud pitcher on his baseball team.
